Home Visiting Program
Our Home Visiting Program is designed to take the mystery and fear out of parenthood for first time parents. Services are available for first time parents, from pregnancy up to three years of age. Our staff provide the following:
- Prenatal Education
- Basic Parenting Information
- Health Education
- Nutrition Education
- Safety Information
- Parent/Child Attachment Strategies
- Child Development Education
Like the other NAPPR services, our Home Visiting Program is flexible and based on the family's preference. Most of the services take place in the home. Participants in our Home Visiting Program develop an increased knowledge and awareness of child development, infant care, health and safety issues. In addition to developing good parenting skills and bonding with the new baby, new parents learn how to navigate the healthcare system and to advocate for themselves and their new child.
Our trained Home Visitors assist families in gaining access to a variety of resources, including dental and health care, support networks within the community, and more. In addition, we provide important child screenings that can impact the child's overall health and development.
Who qualifies for the Home Visiting Program?
Native American parents who:
- are expecting their first child
- are first time parents of a child from birth to three years of age
- have three or more children under the age of four
Parenting is one of the hardest thing many of us will ever do. NAPPR is here to help new parents get off to a good start.
