			<title>NAPPR RECEIVES ARRA FUNDING FOR NEW EARLY HEAD START PROGRAM</title>

			<description><![CDATA[<p><b>Albuquerque, NM&mdash;Native American Professional Parent Resources (NAPPR), Inc.</b> has been selected to begin a new Early Head Start program in Albuquerque.&nbsp; This program is funded by federal ARRA Early Head Start Expansion funds through the Department of Health and Human Services and is anticipated to create at least 20 new jobs.&nbsp; Funding for the start-up year of the project is approximately $1.2 million for 72 families to receive a combination of home and center-based services.&nbsp; The new Early Head Start program will prioritize services to income-eligible Native American families.&nbsp; Early Head Start is a two-generation program designed to provide high-quality child and family development services to low-income pregnant women and families with infants and toddlers.</p>
<p>NAPPR is a Nonprofit 501(c)3 organization whose mission to &ldquo;empower, educate, and provide supportive services to build healthy Native American children and families&rdquo;.&nbsp; NAPPR provides a variety of direct services to Native Americans in Bernalillo, Cibola, Sandoval and Valencia counties and also provides oral health promotion and oral health training/technical assistance to Indian Health Service dental clinics throughout the IHS Albuquerque Service Area.&nbsp; NAPPR has a successful history providing services in Native American communities for over 25 years and has continually grown and expanded to meet the needs of the population served.</p>

			<description><![CDATA[<p><b>Albuquerque, NM&mdash;Native American Professional Parent Resources (NAPPR), Inc.</b> has been selected as one of<b> </b>five New Mexico communities to join &ldquo;Strong Starts for Children,&rdquo; a new Everyday Democracy initiative that helps communities find ways for people from all walks of life to work together for the success of all children.</p>
<p>Everyday Democracy will be working closely with NAPPR and the other communities over the next 18 months to help them find ways for all kinds of people to talk, work and take action together on early childhood development issues. In Strong Starts for Children, people will work to bring about successes on issues such as school readiness, linked systems for health and education, access for families to development and job training, financial literacy, and educational opportunities.</p>
<p>&ldquo;NAPPR is thrilled at the opportunity to participate in this initiative and we look forward to working with Everyday Democracy and all parties involved in order to develop a plan to address the needs of young children&rdquo;, says Jane Larson, Executive Director for NAPPR, Inc.</p>
<p>&ldquo;Building on the wisdom of social, cultural, and governance traditions throughout New Mexico, we&rsquo;re looking forward to partnering with NAPPR<b> </b>on this initiative,&rdquo; says Martha L.
